When to Observe Rajab Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?

The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Sunday 20 May 2012) at 23:47 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Sunday 20 May 2012) and (Monday 21 May 2012) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

Monday 21 May 2012

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Tuesday 22 May 2012 and in the Western Region will be on Tuesday 22 May 2012. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

- Results of seeing the crescent, and the first day of the month in different countries will be added here Inshalla as we receive the reports from ICOP's members. If you wish to be a member in ICOP, or to know more about it, kindly click here.

This day also i tried but with same problem.

So i will send my observations;

On the day of may 22nd i tried to sight the moon early at 18:50 the sun shine was very high and i tracked it using an astrolabe and a program but i did not see it; at 19:37 venus was easily seen , at 17:40 i saw the crescent i measured its altitude it was by asrtolabe 15° - same result as AT- , at 17:44 i heard magreeb athan so i went to pray.
So i saw the crescent 2 minutes befor sun set but i did not see the sun which was behind buildings.
After prayer i sent this report but it was not published on the site so i re-sent it at 08:55 of may 23rd.

There are some differences between AT result and other program "the electric astrolabe" at 19:40 of 22nd may i measured the altitude of moon it was 15° by my own astrolabe the results from AT is 14° 59' and from the second program 16°; the semi-diameter from AT 14' 49", from the second 14' 53".

Dr. Z.Sani Mustapha said: "The crescent was sighted but not seen. I am expecting to see the crescent at 5.35 a.m, as it was seen the fajr before at 4.35 a.m. This is according to the confirmation of Dr. Mcnaughton that the moon can be sighted by the naked eye at an hours interval and 49 minutes using optical aid. I am happy that a Christian beliebver in the Message of Jesus son of Maryam has confirmed the explanation of Muhammad Rasulullah based on his conversation with a Bedouin. This is the meaning of Bariha and that the moon is calculated by observing its appearance on the eastern horizon. "

The moon has not received enough reflected light from the sun to be seen. Let us imagine Muhammad Rasulullah telling the Quraysh and Levi clans of the children of Israel in Madina that he has sighted the moon through divine light! Therefore the Sunna is real and cannot be challenged."
