When to Observe Muharram Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Friday 30 August 2019) at 10:37 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Friday 30 August 2019) and (Saturday 31 August 2019) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Saturday 31 August 2019 and in the Western Region will be on Saturday 31 August 2019. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Not Seen: ICOP member Dr. Younes Rakour from باتنة City in باتنة State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Younes Rakour said: "تم تسجيل حضور سحب رعدية نتيجة اضطراب جوي غربي قادم من الأطلسي مما منع الرؤية بشكل عام ....

Mr. Abdellatif Fareh said: "لم أتمكن من رؤية الهلال فقد كانت السماء مغيمة، و خاصة في الأفق الغربي مكان تحري رؤية الهلال."



Indonesia

Mr. ِِِArwinjuli said: "The new crescent of Muharram 1441 AH was not seen from Barus Observation Spot, North Sumatera, Indonesia.

United States


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Blacksburg City in Virginia State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location prior to sunset (sunset 7:56 pm EDT).  The apparent sunset was at 7:48 pm.  Using two pairs of binoculars (7X50 and 10X50; mostly the latter), I started scanning a partly cloudy western horizon with no success.  I could not see Venus either; it would have been almost equidistance between the sun and the moon.  I continued the effort till moonset (moonset: 8:29 pm)."

Dr. Younes Rakour said: "لم نتمكن من رؤية هلال محرم 1441 هـ بسبب الغيوم الكثيفة والأمطار الطوفانية التي تساقطت على المدينة منذ الصباح ..
لكن تم تسجيل شهادة موثوقة من طرف أحد الأشخاص بمدينة الأغواط الجزائرية التي تقع في الوسط الجزائري، حيث أنه تم مشاهدة الهلال بالعين المجردة وبشكل واضح لا لبس فيه ....."

Brunei Darussalam


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Mr. Hazarry Haji Ali Ahmad from Agok Hill City in Jerudong State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was seen by telescope, the crescent was seen by CCD Imaging
Mr. Hazarry Haji Ali Ahmad said: "The western sky was clear, Venus and Sun were used for scopes alignment. The new moon observation of Muharram 1441H at Agok Hill by the Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam was held at sunset of August 31, 2019. The hilal was sighted immediately after sunset (after pointing the scopes at sunset and slewing to the Moon)."

Indonesia


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi from Surakarta City in Central Java State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The new crescent of Muharram 1441 AH was seen from Assalaam Observatory, at The Islamic Modern Boarding School ASSALAAM, Pabelan Kartasura Sukoharjo Central Java Indonesia.

This event was attended by a hundred of the Students of MA PPMI Assalaam n members of CASA.

Report by: Hossein Janghorbani (NajmoSepehr-Sadrolmonajjemin) – Manager of Shahreza Crescent Association and Red Crescent’s Astronomy and Geophysics Center
Date: Saturday, 08/31/2019
Location: Damzad foothills in the East of Shahreza (latitude: 32 00 N, longitude: 51 52 E, elevation: 1825m from sea level, time zone: +4.5 GMT)
Equipments: Three set of 15*70 binoculars,One compass.
Atmospheric condition: Hazy and partly cloudy
Horizon obstacles: about 2.5°
Apparent Sunset: --:--
Apparent Moonset: --:--
Results: Moon crescent was seen by 15*70 binoculars by Reza Janghorbani at 19:21, for the first time. Other group members observed crescent by binoculars subsequently. Moon crescent was seen by naked eye by Roya Ghermezi at 19:27, for the first time. Other group members observed crescent by naked eye subsequently.
At the end of this program ,Mr Hossien Janghorbani ,manager of Astronomy and Jeo physics House of  Shahreza with 24 years back ground in astronomy  science and jeo physics and Natural Geography and Meteorology and Islamic Astronomy announced about climatic condition and meteorology topic during 9 months we will have variable fall  and winter. Some  times  e may have prolonged drought and eventually  we may have waterlogged in the height of frustration . As the distance between rainfall disaster to next rainfall is very long which are sings of drought .But at the end ,we will have sudden atmosphere change from February , March, April, May and June in  2020.It will happen heavy rain whit a heavy snow , hail and storm in some part of north  hemisphere I the earth.
It will happen a huge floods , extreme cold  , snow and blizzard .The weather changes in  during 9 month . But  in most of the days and times forecasting the extreme cold and icy in winter and spring .In way  that there is icy in some river and  spring  and even in  some  part of  sea .And  the  people will be surprised. Although this subjects are  estimated  and it  may  have  a little error and just God know that  this forecasting  are true or not and a God awarded of the  secrets  of the  secrets of the world.

Mr. Hatim El Harrak said: "تم رؤية هلال محرم الحرام 1441 هـ  في مدينة طنجة المملكة المغربية 
بالعين المجردة بشكل واضح  وكانت السماء صافية مع بعض السراب القليل على الساعة 20:06 بالتوقيت المحلي وتم استخدام بعدها كاميرا كانون 500D بعدسة 70-300 في تقريب وتصوير الرؤية ."

Mr. Abdessamad Doukkane said: "شاركت جمعية المبادرة المغربية للعلوم والفكر في تحري الهلال مع المندوبية الاقليمية لوزارة الاوقاف والشؤون الاسلامية بالناظور وقد ثبتت رؤية الهلال حيث تم التحري بصومعة مسجد محمد السادس بحي المطار.
وقد توصلت الجمعية بعدة صور لفلكيين في مدن أخرى تؤكد ثبوت الرؤية، الصورة من طنجة أرسلها الصديق الحراق حاتم"

Mr. Mohammad Aamir said: "Crescent for Muharram 1441 AH was not sighted anywhere in Kathmandu because it was totally cloudy."

Seen: ICOP member Prof. Mohammed Al-Bussaidi from Al-Fulaij City in Muscat State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was seen by telescope, the crescent was seen by CCD Imaging
Prof. Mohammed Al-Bussaidi said: "The Crescent Moon was sighted by the naked eye."



Palestine

United Kingdom


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Eng. Qamar Uddin from York City in North Yorkshire State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "It was partly cloudy but the moon position was behind a dark patch of clouds before sunset (19:58 BST). However, the moon position was out of the cloud after about 20 mins and the two of us (myself and Hani Abdullah) saw the Muharram 1441 AH hilal at 20:22 BST with binoculars and by naked eye soon after that, Alhamdulillah. I took a few photos of the Hilal and also recorded on a video, too. We have also received reports that the moon was sighted throughout most of the UK as reported to ICOUK.net website."



United States


1 . Time of observation: Before sunset . Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "Using a Stellarium program, I checked the relative position of the moon and the sun and the time when the moon would be exactly due south.  A few minutes prior to that time, I started scanning that portion of the sky.  At 2:36 pm EDT, I located the crescent.  The horns were at approximately 1:30 and 5:00 O'clock (1:30;3:00;5:00).  While I could see the crescent for a long time, my effort trying to see it with naked eye was not fruitful.  Soon, I quit the session."



2 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Blacksburg City in Virginia State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location at 7:40 pm EDT and immediately started looking for the moon in a partly cloudy and hazy western horizon.  Using a pair of binoculars (7x50), I sighted the crescent moments after my arrival at 7:40 pm.  I could not see the crescent moon by the naked eye then.  Soon, the crescent was covered by clouds.  It was at 8:05 pm when I saw the moon by naked eyes in a clearing.  The horns were at approximately 1:30 and 6:30 O'clock (1:30;4:00;6:30).  I left the area for other spots to take pictures.  About 8:50 pm, I still could see the upper horn that was about to disappear (moonset: 9:06 pm).  This evening, I also searched for Venus; I could not see it."

Dr. Younes Rakour said: "تم اليوم بحمد الله رصد هلال ليلة 28 ذو الحجة على الساعة الخامسة والربع بالتوقيت الجزائري .....
الظروف الجوية كانت سيئة بشكل عام حيث تميز الأفق الشرقي بالسحب الركامية الرعدية وارتفاع في نسبة الرطوبة ....

Dr. Younes Rakour said: "نسبة اضاءة القمر منعدمة تماما وذلك لدخوله في مرحلة المحاق والتي ستبلغ مداها بعد ساعات قليلة "المحاق المركزي سيكون على 11:37 بالتوقيت المحلي" ورغم وجود القمر في منطقة الحضيض ....
