When to Observe Shawwal Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Friday 22 May 2020) at 17:39 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Friday 22 May 2020) and (Saturday 23 May 2020) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Sunday 24 May 2020 and in the Western Region will be on Sunday 24 May 2020. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Eng. Kacem Bankih said: "حاولت مجموعة متكونة من ثلاث أفراد، من مقام بوعميدفي بني يزقن، رؤية الهلال بالعين المجردة والمنظار دون أن تتمكن من رؤيته.
كان بالجو غبار حال دون رؤية الهلال مع وجود إمكانية رؤيته بالعين المجردة."

Mr. Abdellatif Fareh said: "بفضل الله و منته تمت رؤية هلال شوال بعد غروب الشمس مباشرة من طرف رئيس النادي الفلكي بكوينين ولاية الوادي (د.فارح عبد اللطيف)، رغم أن بهض السحب كانت مبعثرة على الأفق الغربي إلا أنه تمت الرؤية أولا بالمنظار ثم التأكد بالعين المجردة، كل عام و الأمة الإسلامية بألف خير."

Dr. Mohammed Hussain   Ahmad said: "Alhamdulillah, the Shawwal 1441H crescent was SIGHTED at several designated locations on the evening of Saturday, May 23, 2020. As a result, Brunei will celebrate Eid al-Fitr on Sunday, May 24, 2020.

Mr. Abdullatif Shaheen said: "لم تتم رؤية الهلال بالعين المجردة بالرغم من صفاء الجو ورؤية كوكب فينوس بوضوح وبالرغم من تحديد المكان المحتمل لرؤية الهلال وهو أعلى يسار فينوس كما تم رؤيته بالفعل يوم الأحد بعد الغروب وكانت رؤية الهلال فى ذلك اليوم بعد حوالى ٥ دقائق من الغروب مما يدل على أنه لم يتم رؤيته يوم السبت بالعين المجردة تأكيدا وأن يوم الأحد هو المتمم لشهر رمضان ٣٠ يوما وقد رفعت الصور لثانى يوم (يوم الاحد) لكى يظهر ذلك ويتاكد بوضوح لمن يرى أن الرؤيه الشرعيه هى الرؤيا بالعين المجردة من أن أول رؤيه لهلال شوال بالعين المجردة تمت بعد أن اكتمل شهر رمضان ٣٠ يوما "

Eng. Martin Elsaesser said: "Clouds and rain were predicted for the afternoon, so i could only do daytime observation. Despite billowing clouds and haze i could quickly observe the crescent with the video system. The gap in the clouds only lasted for 30 minutes."



Indonesia

Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "Bismillaahirrahmaanirrahiim

The new crescent of Shawal 1441 AH was not seen on Saturday, May 23, 2020 from Assalaam Observatory Sukoharjo Surakarta Central Java Indonesia even by telescope.

The crescent was sighted from my location at Rowasiya Observatory at Bendo Ketitang Juwiring Klaten Central Java Indonesia (via CCD and image processing). There was very beautiful Mercury and Venus Conjungtion after sunset.

The 1st of Shawwal 1441 AH in Indonesia will start on Sunday, May 24, 2020.

Location: Damzad foothills in the East of Shahreza (latitude: 32 00 N, longitude: 51 52 E, elevation: 1825m from sea level, time zone: +4.5 GMT)
Equipments: Three set of 15*70 binoculars,One set of 20*90 binoculars,One compass.
Atmospheric condition: partly cloudy and Hazy
Horizon obstacles: about 2°

Mr. Amine Khouya said: "قمت اليوم بتحري هلال شوال بعد مغيب الشمس  في الأفق الغربي لمدينة ارفود إقليم الرشيدية ، فتعذر رؤية الهلال بالعين المجردة مساء اليوم .عيدكم مبارك سعيد وكل عام وانتم بخير  .."

Dr. Soufiane Assouli said: "صراحة لم يكم من السهل رؤية الهلال بالعين المجردة بسبب قربه من الأفق و بسبب سٌمكه الضئيل إلا بعد الاستعانة ببرنامج  stellarium  لتحديد موقعه في السماء و منظار زوجي. حينها كان ارتفاع الهلال عن الأفق حوالي 3 درجات فقط.
ثم قمت بالتقاط صورة بكاميرا الهاتف إضافة إلى المنظار الزوجي.
عيدكم مبارك تقبل الله منا و منكم صالح الأعمال.
و كل عام و أنتم بخير"

Mr. Hatim El Harrak said: "بعدستي بعد مغرب اليوم الهلال من طنجة بواسطة الكاميرا بعدسة 70 - 300 مم . لم يرى بالعين المجردة  وبالكاد ظهر في عدسة الكاميرا . 
لكن تم رؤيته بالعين المجردة  من قبل راصدين آخرين و ظهر في مناطق أخرى من وسط وجنوب المغرب"

Dr. Ayyub Patel said: "The Crescent moon for Shawwal 2020 was not seen probably due to its low altitude at sunset and hazy nature of the horizon after sunset
 Bu-y Binoculars and camera nikon p1000 i did see Venus planet in its crescent shape"

مع علمنا بتحديد المكان الذي يُتوقع أن يتواجد فيه الهلال حسابيا بالاعتماد على عدة برامج فائقة الدقة 
وكانت السماء صافة وبدون غيوم  .
. تمكنا من رؤية الهلال بالمنظار وكان رقيقا ولكن عجزنا جميعا عن رؤية الهلال بالعين المجردة رغم طول المحاولة إلى آخر الوقت .
مما يدل دلالة قاطعة على أن اليوم السبت 23 ماي 2020 هو يوم 29 رمضان 1441 هـ  فلو كان هلال إكمال العدة لكان واضحا لا يخفى عن أي أحد 
كما هو مقرر في كتب الفقه وبالتجربة وبالمنطق ...

Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location at 7:41 pm EDT (sunset: 8:31 pm; apparent sunset: 8:20 pm).  The western horizon was mostly clear and very hazy.  Using a pair of binoculars (7X50), I started scanning the horizon.  I spotted Venus at 8:12 pm with the pair of binoculars; later, Venus was clearly visible with naked eye at 8:36 pm.  The first binocular sighting of the crescent moon was at about 8:38 pm.  The crescent was thin and was visible with the naked eye at 8:47 pm.  The horns were approximately at 2:30 and 6:30 O'clock (2:30;4:30;6:30). A friend of mine was also able to see the crescent, using a pair of (10X50) binoculars and then with naked eye.  The first sighting of Mercury was at 8:42 pm.  Later, mercury was also clearly visible with naked eye.  I changed my location and stayed at the new site till moon set at 9:24 pm (moonset: 9:35 pm; apparent moonset 9:24 pm)."

فضوء الشمس طغى على ضوء الهلال قبل شروق الشمس بــ 13 دقيقة
فلم أتمكن من رؤيته بالعين المجردة رغم تمكني من رؤيته وتحديد مكانه بوضوح بالمنضار  لفترة وجيزة ( 3 دقائق تقريبا )

وفي الصورة الهلال غير واضح بسبب أن  آلة التصوير  ضعيفة ..."
