When to Observe Sha'ban Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Saturday 13 March 2021) at 10:21 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Saturday 13 March 2021) and (Sunday 14 March 2021) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Monday 15 March 2021 and in the Western Region will be on Sunday 14 March 2021. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The new crescent of Sha'ban 1442 AH was not sighted from my location at Rowasiya Obserbatory, Bendo Ketitang Juwiring Klaten Central Java Indonesia. 

The 1st of Sha'ban 1442 AH in Indonesia will start on Monday, March 15, 2021."

Dr. Hassan Talibi said: "السلام عليكم ورحمة الله تعالى رصدنا الهلال في مناطق متعددة بما فيها المناطق الصحاروية الجنوبية المتقدمة غربا والمؤهلة أكثر من المناطق الأخرى لرؤيته لكن لا أحد من الراصدين شاهد الهلال... وحتى اللجان الرسمية التابعة للوزارة الأوقاف لم تثبت رؤيته... وبذلك فغدا هو متم الثلاثين ويكون فاتح شعبان يوم الإثنين بإذن الله تعالى."

Mr. Banouh Nouh Mefnoune said: "بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم والصلاة و السلام على سيدنا محمد وعلى آله و صحبه و من والاه، تمت والحمد لله رؤية هلال شعبان ١٤٤٢ من موقع تافيلالت بني يزجن ولاية غرداية، بالعين المجردة و دون الاستعانة بالآلة في الموضع المقدر حسب برنامج المواقيت الدقيقة، وهذا بعد حوالي ٩ دقائق من غروب الشمس، وكان يشير بقرنيه إلى الساعة ٣ و ٧ وكان سميكا نوعا ما و أبيضا لامعا، و قد تمت رؤيته أيضا من منطقة تاغردايت، وبذلك يكون غدا إن شاء الله الفاتح من شعبان، اللهم باركه لنا وبلغنا رمضان. والسلام عليكم. "

Brunei Darussalam


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Mr. Hazarry Haji Ali Ahmad from Kuala Tutong City in Tutong State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Hazarry Haji Ali Ahmad said: "Members of the Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam conducted the sighting of Syaaban new crescent on Sunday, March 14, 2021 corresponding with 30th Rajab 1442.

The scopes were aligned to the Sun. The moon crescent was not seen immediately after sunset as it was blocked by the clouds. Only when the clouds moved out from the scopeview that the hilal was firstly seen. The 24 hour-old crescent was visible until about 0.5 degree above the sea horizon, where there were clouds below it."



Indonesia

1 . Time of observation: Before sunrise. Seen: ICOP member Mr. Sami Al-Harbi from المدينة المنورة City in المدينة المنورة State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging

1 . Time of observation: Before sunrise. Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Blacksburg City in Virginia State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "On Thursday, March 11, 2021, using a pair of (7X50) binoculars, I sighted the moon at 6:14 am EST as the moon was coming up from behind a low level cloud hugging the horizon in Blacksburg, VA (moonrise: 6:05 am).  It was very hazy and thus I could not say that I could see the moon."

Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The old crescent of Rajab 1442 AH was sighted on Friday, March 12, 2021 from my location at Rowasiya Observatory, Bendo Ketitang Juwiring Klaten Central Java Indonesia. The sky was clear after running several days before.

Mr. Ahmad Junaidi said: "The crescent was captured form Gazetorium Songgolangit Ponorogo Indonesia. "
