When to Observe Sha'ban Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Friday 05 April 2019) at 08:50 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Friday 05 April 2019) and (Saturday 6 April 2019) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Sunday 07 April 2019 and in the Western Region will be on Saturday 06 April 2019. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Indonesia


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi from Surakarta City in Central Java State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "On April 6th, 2019 the sky was completely cloudy. About to sunset time, rain covered the observation area at Assalaam Observatory, PPMI Assalaam, Sukoharjo. The participants was about fifty people. During observation, there was a sharing session between junior students and the senior one. Until the end of observation no one reported the visibility of the crescent.l"

Location: Damzad foothills in the East of Shahreza (latitude: 32 00 N, longitude: 51 52 E, elevation: 1825m from sea level, time zone: +4.5 GMT)
Equipments: Two sets of 15*70 binoculars, One compass.
Atmospheric condition: totally cloudy.
Horizon obstacles: 1.5°
Apparent SunSet: --:--
Results: Moon crescent was not seen by naked eye, Moon crescent was not seen by binocular.

Mr. Abdessamad Doukkane said: "عدم ثبوت رؤية الهلال في عدد من مدن المغرب: الناظور-وجدة- تاوريرت- الرباط-طنجة-العيون-الداخلة...وقد شاركت جمعية المبادرة المغربية للعلوم والفكر مراقبة الهلال مع مندوبية الاوقاف والشؤون الاسلامية بالناظور حيث كان الجو غائما."

Qamar Uddin from York City in North Yorkshire State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "We didn't the Hilal yesterday (5/4/2019) anywhere in the UK. We held our first 'Crescent Moon Watch' event of York Astronomical Society today (6/4/2019) at our new observation location (Beetle Bank Farm), attended by about 40 people, including Imams and family/children, who were given a presentation on the Solar System before the observation attempt.  Unfortunately, it was totally cloudy so we didn’t see the moon. However, everyone enjoyed their visit to the farm and learned something new about the universe we live in, Alhamdulillah. We have received an unconfirmed report that there was an actual sighting in another city (UK) today?"



United States


1 . Time of observation: Before sunset . Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Blacksburg City in Virginia State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location at 7:45 pm EDT (sunset: 7:49 pm).  The western horizon was partly cloudy and hazy.  Using a pair of binoculars (7X50), I started scanning the horizon.  The first binocular sighting of the crescent moon was at 7:48 pm in a small clear patch.  The naked eye sighting was at 7:59 pm when the moon reappeared in another clear patch.  The horns were at 2:30 and 7:00 O'clock (2:30;4:00;7:00).  I ended the session at 8:27 pm (moonset: 9:11 pm). "
