Unlike yesterday's cloudy sky (Image 1), the western horizon was mostly clear but hazy. Venus was also visible (Image 2). The binocular sighting of Mercury was at 6:00 pm. Although, visible at a higher camera magnification setting (Image 3; equidistance from either sides, Mercury appears as a very small dot very close to the horizon), I could not see it with the naked eye. Long before moonset, I left the area at 6:23 pm (moonset: 7:26 pm). Comparing this evening's elevation of Mercury with that of yesterday's moon, if it were not due to the cloudy condition, I could have most likely sighted the crescent yesterday at least by using a pair of binocular if not by naked eye."
