When to Observe Jumadal Al-Aakherah Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Wedensday 09 March 2016) at 01:54 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Wedensday 09 March 2016) and (Thursday 10 March 2016) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Thursday 10 March 2016 and in the Western Region will be on Thursday 10 March 2016. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Germany


1 . Time of observation: After sunset.Photographed: ICOP member Eng. Martin Elsaesser from Munich City in Bavaria State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was seen by CCD Imaging
Eng. Martin Elsaesser said: "Low clouds and haze remained throughout the morning and only started to disappear around noon. Blue skies were visible in the afternoon but still a lot of haze remained. The crescent could be easily imaged around sunset at 8° elongation some 15 hours after conjunction. I also tried to see it visually with good 12x50 binoculars but the conditions were not good enough and the tools probably to puny. With still a lot of snow in the mountains i could not easily reach better sky conditions."

Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The daytime crescent was not sighted from Assalaam Observatory, PPMI Assalaam, Kartasura Sukoharjo Central Java on Wednesday, March 9, 2016.

As we know today is the best astronomical event in Indonesia, Total Solar Eclipse on Wednesday, 9 March 2106.

Date: Wedensday, 3/9/2016
Location: Damzad foothills in the East of Shahreza (latitude: 32 00 N, longitude: 51 52 E, elevation: 1825m from sea level, time zone: +3.5 GMT)
Equipments: two set of 15*70 binoculars , two set of 20*90 binoculars , one compass.
Atmospheric condition:Hazy and Partly cloudy in western horizon.
Horizon obstacles: about 2°
Apparent sunset: 17:59
Results: Moon crescent was not seen.

Mr. Saleh Ben Abdassalaam said: "Assalamu 'alaykoum,

I tried to sight the moon from the city of Rotterdam, without any succes. The western horizon was partly cloudy and hazy. 

We will follow the negative sighting report of the Moroccan Ministery of Awqaf and will start Jumada al-Akhira from Friday, March 11th 2016 In Schaa Allah.

Mr. Turki Alamri said: "The crescent is in range and could be seen, but unfortunatly  too much haze and dust, blue sky turned yellow with AOD value 0.8 for 625 nm"



United Kingdom


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Eng. Qamar Uddin from York City in North Yorkshire State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "Most of the UK was totally cloudy today (9/3/2016), so the moon was not seen anywhere. Negative report from Moroco as well. Most of our UK hilal reports can be seen from www.icouk.net"



United States


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Blacksburg City in Virginia State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location (the Blacksburg Middle School) at 6:07 pm EST (sunset: 6:23 pm).  Using a pair of binoculars (7X50), I started scanning the partly cloudy western horizon.  Soon, a friend joined me (he was using a pair of 10x50 binoculars).  Our first binocular sighting was at 6:38 pm.  It took us two more minutes to see a very thin crescent with naked eyes.  The horns were at about 3:30 and 6:30 O'clock (3:30;5:00;6:30).  Later, another friend joined us; he too was able to sight the moon through the10x50 pair of binoculars and with naked eyes.  At 7:05 pm the moon disappeared behind clouds, about 2 degrees above the horizon (moonset: 7:22 pm). "

Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The new crescent of Jumadal Akhirah 1437 AH was not sighted fro Assalaam Observatory, PPMI Assalaam Pabelan Kartasura Sukoharjo Central Java Indonesia.
The sky was totally cloudy."

Nigeria


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Mr. Yunusa Yakubu from Bauchi City in Bauchi State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Yunusa Yakubu said: "The Crescent was conspicuously visible to all and sundry. The Sultanate Council Sokoto has declared tomorow Friday 11/03/2016 as 1st day of Jumadal Thani 1437AH."



Sri Lanka


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Mr. Abdul Rahman Razeen from Jaffna City in Northjern province State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Abdul Rahman Razeen said: "Today 10-3-2016AD=29-5-1437AH is the sighting day for the month of
Jumadassaniyah.
 I was in Jaffna and the crescent was sighted by me and in
kinniya,Weligama,Galle. I sighted just immediately after Sunset which
was 6:22pm. The altitude was 16degrees and the horns was 4 to 9
o'clock.
Hence it was decided to end the proceeding month 29day's and to start
the month of Jumadassaniyah on 11-3-2016 by the president C.G.M.H.C.
M.Riyadh (Baari) along with A.C.J.U.and M.R.C.A."

Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "We are all members of CASA (Club Astronomi Santri Assalaam) the islamic modern boarding school ASSALAAM and hundreds of moslem from Solo Raya in celebrating of Partial Solar Eclipse. The crescent solar was easy seen by all observers :-)"
